Our Honoree

George Wyner

George Wyner has been involved with Children’s Community School since its inception 30 years ago. He has been the Chairman of the CCS Board of Directors for 15 years. His thoughtful leadership has seen the School through difficult times and helped us become one of Los Angeles’ premiere progressive schools.

George’s wife Kathy, an educator, volunteered at the school and then taught at CCS for seven years. Both George’s sons, Zach and Nick, are graduates of CCS and Zach began his teaching career here.

A veteran actor of 40 years, George’s long career on television, film and stage have had led him to be featured in well-known fare including Hill Street Blues, Fletch, Spaceballs, and most recently the 2010 Academy Award Best Film nominee, A Serious Man. These roles have made him recognizable to many, but those of us at CCS recognize him for his big heart that has led him to dedicate many, many hours to the children, families and staff of CCS. We look forward to saying “thank you, George.”
